Established in 1986, Brockport School of Dance and Performing Arts (BSDPA) is located in the heart of the village. Unique among studios, BSDPA is the only school on the West side of Monroe County offering a full dance and theatre arts curriculum. The school is committed to offering a high standard of training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary/Lyrical, and Modern as well as training in the dramatic arts. BSDPA is proud to be a non-competition school.

The curriculum offers a strong emphasis on form, artistry, and technique in the dance and drama disciplines. All dance students are taught relevant dance terminology. in addition, classes teach performance skills a swell as an awareness and knowledge of theater and stage presence. From the beginning of their training, students are given a solid foundation in dance and drama, while at the same time experiencing creativity and fun. Our classes for younger students are geared toward fostering a love for dance and movement.

Students have received scholarships and invitations to participate in summer dance intensives at American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet Theare, the Chautauqua Institute, NYSSSA, Lake Erie Ballet, Wlanut Hill School, Pennsylvania School of the Arts and the American Academy of Ballet at Vassar College. A high level of graduates pursue college majors in dance and musical theatre; including enrollment in programs at Ohio State University, Marymount Manhattan College, Carnegie-Mellon, NYU, Nazareth college, SUNY Freedonia, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Buffalo, Buffalo State, Point Park College, Ithaca College and Kent State, among others. Former students are also pefforming professionally on Broadway, in Disney World, on International Cruise Ship Lines and most recently with Ballet Theatre of Maryland.
